Madidi Travel is a tour operator that supports conservation through sustainable tourism.

Our efforts in the creation of the Madidi National Park began back in the 60s, when Rosa María Ruiz (our founder) and her mum started fighting to preserve and protect the area. It wasn´t until 1995 that the Bolivian government approved it and officially created Madidi NP.

Since the beginning of the XXI century, our focus is to preserve and protect our Serere Reserve, a marvelous area of tropical forest and lagoons with more than 4000 hectares. We saved it from deforestation with lots of effort and hard work.

this is who we are

Rosa María Ruiz, founder of Madidi Travel

«What we are doing to the forests of the world is but a mirror reflection of what we are doing to ourselves and to one another”

Mahatma Gandhi

Some of the Bolivian Amazon species are endangered. Their survival depends greatly on what happens in the next years and it is directly related to the necessity of stopping poaching activities.

We continuously work on the rehab of the different ecosystems within the reserve (marshland, jungle, high forest and palm fields) so they can all recover from the deforestation they suffered in the past by illegally log of timber.

We rescue injured wild animals that we find inside our reserve, however the vast majority of the wild animals are given to us from animal trafficking  or just survivors of poaching activities.

Recently we have reintroduced tepirs, parrots, spider monkeys, hauler monkeys, margays, anteaters, sloths, anacondas and other snakes, etc. AS you can imagin, the preparation process prior reintroduction is a very long one, hence it is common to see our staff and tourists interacting with these animals.
